Carrd Guide!

Oh my, there's a lot to process here, but never fear! I can explain what's going on.The tabs you see here describe where each character is from, and depending on what you click, you'll find character carrds relevant to that area.Normally I'll link specific characters, but if you're on this page, you've landed on a 'directory', of sorts, which branches off into the subsections that are each character's carrd. That said, here's the type of characters you'll typically find for each location. Check out my lore carrd here (crafted within the bounds of XIV lore).

City of Monsters: Alchemical Vampires, some voidsent, some regular 'Spoken' characters.Gloomhaven: Garlean Ashkin + their necromancer with the occasional 'normal' resident.Wings District: Voidsent + regular pureblood GarleansMajoid Island: Chimeral Vampires

NOTE: The images in this carrd are NOT official representation of FFXIV, nor of the characters as presented in the game. These are merely visual representations of how they should look in an 'in character' setting.

Majoid Island

A hidden society on an island in the Cieldalaes that originates from the Allagans. They are an 'advanced' society, yet hid for so long due to magical mist. That has since been fading, leading to their eventual discovery...This is the home of the Chimeral Vampires.

Wings District

A district in the City of Monsters with a new type of very bird-like voidsent. Rumour has it these people were horrible enemies at one point and allied with a very evil scientist, but have since gone on a journey toward redemption... with aid of their guardian 'angel', an ancient voidsent known as Muninn.

Gloomhaven

A mysterious base in the middle of Garlemald, these are definitely not 'normal' Garleans. Rumour has it of a 'Garlean Gloom Witch' operating here. Who are these mysterious allies to the City of Monsters?

City of Monsters

Located in the icy tundra of Coerthas Western Highlands, this place is home to many unusual monsters with morals. Here are a few of them.

OOC

Yes

✔️ Story/Plot Progression Characters
✔️Long plotlines
✔️Casual/Slice of life RP
✔️Walk Ups
✔️Dark/mature roleplay (taken seriously)
✔️Voidsent & other monster roleplayers
✔️Discord RP (not DMs. In my FC discord or other public areas unless we discuss plotlines ahead of time.)
✔️Intimate scenes should a ship land, but only where it makes sense story-wise, and after a while.

No

❌Elitists - I play by lore, but there is a lot of greyline lore. If you have issues with how I explain my characters via the lore, we aren't meant to RP together.
❌Godmodders - fights will need to be fair. I am not interested in RPing with 'the all powerful character' who will oneshot. Respect the rules where you play. That said, if a character has a clear, explained advantage over mine, we can talk it out. I'm open minded for plots.
❌Character death
❌ Roleplayers/characters under 18. Pref 21+.
❌Relationship out of IC. I am happy with a partner and am not looking for intimacy, so please no attachment that way :)

Maybe

❔Canon characters - while this is a common 'no', I'm open minded. By all means, if you plan a canon character well and think your version would get along with my OCs, we can try it.❔Ascians - I guess this is a common 'no'? I'm open minded about this so long as godmodding isn't an issue.
❔Beings from other dimensions - this one is totally iffy but FFXIV canonically does this, so it'd be silly for me to argue against it if done well.

Crafted Lore Info

I've made some interesting species based on the lore of FFXIV, with in depth research. It's all lore viable, and the carrd for that is here.

Summary

General

☠️ He/Him
☠️ Chimeral vampire (lore here)
☠️ Species TLDR: He drinks either Spoken or beastkin blood to sustain himself, otherwise consumes meat. Living Spoken species corrupted not by the void, but by levin + water aether. This species was crafted within the bounds of FFXIV lore!
☠️G-Chimera
☠️Always wondering where the rum has gone.
☠️Age: Almost 700 years
☠️Can take on the form below in water:

Personality

WHAT DO WE DO WITH A DRUNKEN SAILOR EARLY IN THE MORNING?!Apollo'd tie them up and paint clown makeup or a mustache on them. Maybe that will teach them for being blacked out on the job. He's the captain of a ship and takes his work very seriously. As a Chimeral Vampire who needs to protect his island by scaring everyone else away from it, he sees what he does as an art.Though he feeds from and memory-blocks victims, and, well, destroys their ships, he is very against killing innocent people, and has not ever done so even in the middle of a hectic battle. True enemies trying to kill him, however, now that's a different story. He loves music, particularly singing. He, himself, has a beautiful voice, which he uses to lure in victims, feed from them, and then scare them away.He is extremely overconfident in his methodology and stubborn... which may get him into trouble. There's a certain wariness he has to the general outside world. He finds comfort in his island, but its safety slowly ebbing away is stressing him out...

🍷Voice Claim: Jonathan Young
💖Relationship Status: Open
🌈Sexuality: Bisexual
🎶Theme song: Hoist the Colours

Hooks

☑️ He's been scaring away people to a greater degree from his hidden Island. If he comes upon a very powerful mage who can resist either his charm or memory block... he's in trouble, as he literally will have bitten off more than he can chew.
☑️If you've been attacked and memory blocked by going too close to Majoid Island sometime in the past, you've likely lost a ship or been on a ship that's been sunk. If you've found a way to clear that memory block... perhaps you can try to confront him.
☑️ Apollo is on the hunt for Rainy, a lost Chimeral Vampire who stowed away on his ship. He's therefore exploring the outside world to a greater degree and is like a shark out of water while doing it...
☑️Can you see aether? Well, you may notice he's hiding his very well. What's the deal? And if you can see through even that, you'll notice it's not normal. Rather, levin/water aspected to the extreme?! How is he functional?
☑️ Can you see through glamour? Why does this elezen have fangs and glowing eyes?! Oh no...
☑️Feel free to contact Desastr on discord if you're interested in any of these hooks.

History

Yeesh, this elezen's been around a while, but he's no originally from Majoid island at all. He's from an Ishgardian minor house. As a matter of fact... he was a Lord. The minor house he was part of was known as House Leroux. In current times, not that he knows or cares, the house was wiped out during the Dragonsong war.Due to his father's history of affairs, he was claimed to be an illegitimate son. His father didn't treat him well at all, nor did the rest of his house...including his mother. Though she birthed him, she did what she needed to so she could protect herself and other children from the ire of other Ishgardians.Having enough of that, Apollo managed to kick up enough fuss to be allowed to leave Ishgard, though it took a while to get to that point.Free, at last, Apollo made his way to La Noscea, encountering pirates that he offered his services too. He started off as a low laborer and worked his way up to a skilled sailor, then, eventually, a captain.During his adventures, he generally had bad experiences, leading to a very pessimistic view of the world. It was then that his ship got sank by Majoid islanders, and something went horribly wrong. He was damaged, and in critical condition. The rest of his crew were helped and put on an island, memory blocked, but he needed extra help. So, the Chimeral vampires brought him to the island, and found out he could resist the mind block. They didn't want to trap him there, but did want to see if they could get him to stay. Thankfully, they managed to without much of a problem. He was turned into a vampire eventually, and rose the ranks to become an even more powerful captain than ever before, devout to his island and steadfast in its defense... with a heavy disdain for the outside world. His experience with the Majoid Islanders had been wholly different from anywhere he'd ever experienced before. It was no wonder he wanted to protect it at all costs.((History is a major WIP and can be fleshed out! He'd have joined the Majoid Islanders around 650 years ago, meaning the 50 year span of his life can be filled with strife, and the rest would be him defending the island as a pirate.))

Gideon Mal Glacies

Summary

General

🖤 He/him
🖤 Voidsent (Pureblooded Garlean, totally corrupted)
🖤 Ex-Imperial
🖤 Former Villain

Personality

Gideon lacked empathy for non-Garleans prior to a major change in his life. That has now changed to encompass most people he thinks deserves empathy. He hides any emotion he does have very well, under a completely frozen heart (far worse than his sister). He is narcissistic and prideful, yet somewhat aware there are negative traits. He doesn’t acknowledge them, however is very put-off by how they’re practically degrading his soul. He doesn’t know how to stop it, though. This song’s lyrics define Gideon perfectly. (“Please forgive my negativity… I think the panic got the best of me. I never learned to cope with insecurity.”)As said, things have...changed for Gideon quite a bit, though. He used to be full of hatred and aggression. Due to a spiritual journey and intense trauma, he's changed for the better, even if he himself does not see it.Deep down, he's a compassionate person and would give anything for his people. Now, for innocent and good people in general, as well. He no longer has hatred for non-Garleans, and honors the Kami. That said... due to his past actions, Gideon does not believe he deserves happiness. He has an attitude, and is a grouchy little shit (/affectionate). Just like the bird he's been 'turned into' (Blue-Jay-like Voidsent.).He is a HUGE nerd who uses manuals for everything and isn't super social, yet can be quite the master seductor. Not that, in his mind, it matters, as he's not meant to ever be with anyone. He is used to his high charisma and manipulation making things go his way. Nowadays he is entirely out of his element.

Hooks

☑️ Interested in voidsent? He's a recently turned one, and of a unique nature at that, given his DNA has been modified as well. He could give some valuable insight.
☑️If you're looking for information on magitek-related engineering, such as decoding or decryption, Gideon's the garlean to go to.
☑️He's an ex-Imperial... so if you hate Garleans, well. You'll likely hate him and could have even run into him in your past.
☑️He used to work for some pretty unhinged villains and pretty much was one in his past. If you've heard fragments of his story, you could try to ask him about it.
☑️He resides in the City of Monsters - maybe you'll see him around, especially if you travel to the Wings district.

History

Early lifeHis parents were present in his life and tried their best to give him a good one. They did reinforce the Empire propaganda, completely believing it as well. He grew up in a lower class household, but made do.Morana was born when he was 9 years old. He was delighted to have a younger sister, and was actually quite kind to her (16). He included her in his interests in games, trying his best to teach her as she grew. He seemed to always be there for her…Until he wasn’t.Downward SpiralWhile Morana advanced in academia and hands-on field work via cold-weather crops, Gideon buried himself in research. He had no interest in the army, yet the army eyed him. He kept getting pushed to join it, as much as he tried to reject it. Morana rejected it, as her path seemed to be the sciences. He wanted to go into the sciences too, but he was far more adept at tech than his sister, which the Empire took notice of.It got worse when Morana was 18. When she got an internship as a Garlean scientist, it enraged Gideon. He was both happy for her and pissed that he didn’t get such a chance. It was her intellect that allowed her to advance and eventually gain this internship, yet why not him?! He was just as brilliant and older. He wasn’t made aware of how his sister was threatened by the Imperials if she didn’t join their experimentation projects.By this time, he was so bombarded with propaganda that, in his eyes, his sister’s fate was the ideal one. His jealousy surged, and he stopped being there for her entirely, yet still felt the responsibility to protect her. This ideology to protect family, though, slowly became corrupted.Basic CareerThough the army expressed great interest in him, Gideon managed to avoid being dragged into it by contributing in other ways to the service. He wasn’t turned into a soldier, but rather, a magitek technician. He found his calling and was praised for his work on the tech that ended many, many lives. This wasn’t good enough. He wanted to rise further, but his chance would not come until Garlemald’s fall.Hand of Fate“What I did was for the greater good. My fool of a sister cannot understand that the Resonant experiment, what she was put through, was to help her. Those Eorzeans proved my point for me. They betrayed her, and so, she suffered the consequences. Really… This was a victory. She now has magic. She should be grateful. However, I didn’t help her to raise ASHKIN, of all things. Hated fiends, and for a good reason. She substitutes a family with those fiends?! How utterly pathetic. She doesn’t deserve my help, not after throwing everything away for those savages.Yet, she will get it, someday. Regardless. She will understand what it is like to have a real family again when I take the world’s mantle. So will everyone else I take under my wing.”Gideon was the reason Morana wasn’t butchered when her aid to captured Eorzeans was discovered. Good or bad, he’s the reason she now has the Resonant - in other words, the reason why many Eorzeans were slaughtered to give Morana magic. They would have been slain anyway, but it doesn’t change the fact that he’s a direct contributor and the reason for part of Morana’s downward spiral.
Post-Fall of Garlemald
Gideon was intelligent enough to realize the Empire itself brought its own downfall following the death of the Emperor. This enraged him. He didn’t like seeing imperfection in what he saw as a perfect society. But what caused its flaws? Well… in his eyes, it wasn’t strong enough. There had to be some way to gather more power and prevent this again.
After all.His parents had been torn to shreds by his own people. He couldn’t suffer that again. Morana was the only one he had left and she was a bloody fool. That’s when he was approached by Rook - psychopathic viera scientist. He’d been scraping by, hijacking rogue magitek and converting it to his own gains. Offered another chance to rise, he begrudgingly accepted the offer of an alliance with the Eorzean.Under Rook’s CommandFrom the beginning, Gideon was planning on offing that disgusting savage. She was useful for many things. For one thing, striking fear into his enemies… including his sister. Fear caused irrationality. He wouldn’t actually let Morana fall onto Rook’s table. But threatening it to cause confusion and panic? Oh yes. Perfect. The primary thing, though, was resources. Rook needed his tech, and his charisma when it came to hiring other Garleans. He granted her that, even if he secretly detested everything she stood for. And…feared her. Truth be told, that soulless fiend absolutely terrified him. He’d never admit that aloud, though....Everything changed when he was spared in battle and sent on a spiritual journey. That's when the story gets extremely complicated.Long form recent history TLDR:
He was spared by the Kami and changed his ways. Seeing no future and wanting to help the City of Monsters, he self-sacrificed to the evil scientist Rook and got himself turned into a monster.

Summary

General

💀He/Him
💀Gloomhaven Ashkin (lore here)
💀BATTLE: Melee DPS. Secutor (Pugilist. Magitek-enhanced-fist weapons.)
💀Adopted a chocobo known as Aldegar

Personality

A best friend of Finn, Noah is the down-to-earth Ashkin of the pair, often observing and taking everything in. He is a quiet, sweet gentleman who loves animals and taking care of things like chocobo. This led him to adopt one in need left over from an attack on his base. He is one of the primary chocobo caretakers of Gloomhaven, his caring nature always coming through in his work.Unlike Finn, he doesn't handle Ashkin-related wounds as well. He got ripped in half by voidsent once, and that experience has him far more wary of them.Despite this, he is quite curious about the outside world, likely influenced by what he learned on the invasion front. He doesn't recall his negative contributions to the invasions, but he does recall some of the positive things he learned, leading to that natural curiosity.

Hooks

☑️ Wary about either Garleans or Ashkin? If you can sense he is either, she can be confronted.
☑️Monster hunters - feel free to go after him! (...Be warned, you'll aggro his necromancer.)
☑️Are you an evil character whom harms innocents? He will likely want to dispose of you quickly.
☑️His aura is off, and his body heat matches the room....
☑️If you look like someone desperate and in need, he may try to go out of her way to help you.
☑️His eyes glow like the full moon. Something that can be seen if you look close enough even if he decides to wear sunglasses.
☑️Need a 'monster', as opposed to a less-violent 'hero'? Depending on your target, he'll tear them to pieces after some careful planning. He is no stranger to violence.
☑️If you were a part of his invasion force or the people he hurt, he can be confronted.
☑️Visiting the City of Monsters? There's a chance he may be there.

Aldegar

A rather small bird. He’s the least used to being outdoors or in a cold environment, so suffered greatly in his time outside during a battle that put him in against Gloomhaven Ashkin. He’s very dependent on human contact, having been a ‘birthday chocobo’ for an Ul’dah merchant’s child. He’s still not sure why he was abandoned, having no concept of gil to understand the merchant lost everything. Now, he is deeply attached to Noah, who cares deeply for the poor bird.

History

Noah grew up with the goal of becoming a veterinarian, but that goal was to never be reached. His parents scoffed at the idea, seeing their son as 'better than that' and wanting him to contribute to the Empire far more than caring for some 'measly dogs'.Noah secretly delved into wildlife books despite this, but couldn't avoid the Imperial Army forever. So, he was drafted, and eventually worked under a commander known as Remus, where he met his friend Finn. On the invasion force, he couldn't handle the horrors, and ended up unable to function properly in the army.Rather than be rid of him, he was sent back to Garlemald to train hounds & guard public officials, where he ran back into fellow soldiers he got along well with.He did not survive the fall of Garlemald, but rather, was tempered and tore to pieces several fellow Garleans before succumbing to his wounds himself. Then, being risen by Morana, where he is today. When risen, he took his name from a book he enjoyed as a child. He does not recall his original name, and would prefer to not be reminded.

Summary

General

🐅She/her
🐅Seeker of the Sun Miqo'te
🐅Trained as a RDM
🐅Child of a formerly wealthy Uldan merchant
🐅Age: Early 30s
🐅Lives in Garlemald with Gloomhaven Ashkin, still a surreal series of events for her to think about.

Personality

Indira is a very soft spoken person, something that hasn't changed even since she's been younger. It takes a lot to crack through the walls she's put up, especially given where she is now.She never really could be herself due to pressure from her parents, people who had tried very hard to map out her destiny from the beginning. Having travelled the path she wanted anyway, given she is inwardly very stubborn, she's been met with heavy strife for most of her journey. She is very jumpy and cautious, but under the surface of that and a dash of very light sass, she is warm hearted and has a sense of humour that melds well with her new comrades. She can be very cuddly when she gets to know someone, not shy about showing affection, be it platonic or romantic. When she feels comfortable around someone, she is a calm person in general with a very light smile.

Hooks

☑️ If for some reason she leaves Gloomhaven briefly, she may be spotted around the City of Monsters or Ul'dah, a place she is very familiar with. She may not be alone (by choice) because at this point, she is more comfortable with her people.
☑️If you visit Gloomhaven itself, you may run into this very odd character, who seems afraid of the Ashkin yet also friendly with them, too.
☑️Indira is a former merchant - if you are an Uldan merchant, perhaps you have a similar past.
☑️She fought with the Resistance and as an adventurer, she may have run into others in the past who regularly worked with adventurers or red mages.
☑️She could know you from red mage training!
☑️Open to other ideas as well!

History

Indira is a Miqo'te who grew up in Ul'dah as opposed to a tribe. This city cat's parents didn't utilize typical Miqo'te naming conventions, instead allowing influence of other media for their decision. Her parents were both very wealthy merchants and wanted that for their daughter. Uninterested, she joined some friends in their studies of magic - particularly red.She trained up from age 10-20, much to her parents' dismay, and went off to adventure for 5 years.During these adventures, she aided Ala Mhigo during its plight against the Garleans. As a matter of fact, she often clashed with the Empire in general, her experience with Garleans in general extremely negative. She'd nearly been butchered several times, and even briefly captured and tormented before being rescued by a band of rebels. It was that, and, notably, her experience with Ashkin. She was sent, often, to quest and clear out areas of the cursed creatures, having more near-death experiences from them than she can count. The picture in her mind of them was mindless, violent fiends.Due to pressure from her parents given these collective incidents, she returned to become a merchant again for 2 years.Recently she turned 31, and had fallen upon hard times. Her father was found dead with no explanation (though one may assume it was thugs impatient to get their money.) Her mother has wracked up heavy debt, and she would lose their home if drastic measures were not taken. An old friend approached her with a mercenary job offering a huge amount of money she could not refuse. After all, she was an adventurer once, and had kept her skills sharp. Indira wasn't told much, just that it would involve fighting a group of extremely aggressive Garlean ASHKIN of all things up north. She wasn't too keen on traveling there, but had been pressured into it due to the extreme need for money.....and that was when her world was turned upside down. Her, and her unit, had been defeated. By some miracle, she as shown mercy - because she had kneeled down into the show and surrendered, hoping for a quick death.A death she was never granted...because she ended up captured by these terrifying people. That's when things failed to go as she thought they would. She expected to be tortured, or eaten while alive, given she actually saw the Ashkin doing that on the battlefield. Instead... she was treated with wary caution as she openly and honestly told her story, then pleaded for a quick death toward the people she was afraid of the most. The Garleans of Gloomhaven, the place she discovered she was captured at, verified this story their allies, the City of Monsters. who had active ways of sleuthing.During this verification process, she was treated as a person with respect. Given her own room, and though it was chilly, they did their best to help her be comfortable. They offered her foods from Thanalan, her former home. They went out of their way to accommodate her and show kindness. It didn't matter that she didn't speak much, flinched every time one of them approached, or tried to hide from them every so often. She didn't bother trying to escape, either, reasoning she would be tortured or something if she tried. She was informed that the people who originally hired her for the job that got her here killed her mother and destroyed her home. The shock had been too much, and she broke down. How was she treated, despite being a former enemy who had tried to kill these people?...with kindness. Blankets and hugs, questions on how to help, the whole mix.At the end of it all, she was given a choice. She could leave, return to Ul'dah with resources provided to help her start her life again. She could stay in the City of Monsters, away from this terrifying place.Or...she could stay in Gloomhaven. Where, slowly, she'd started to set up a room and had been given gifts to help be comfortable during her time here. She was given the option to leave a few months after the initial battle. All the while, her view on Garleans and ashkin had been shattered. She'd seen these people grow to try and live as people rather than in fear.As...people.She... in a daze, decided to stay. She was part of Gloomhaven now. It's...difficult for her to explain, and to grasp. But she tends to hide behind these extremely scary new friends of hers or lean on them when she needs to, and they're...well. Always there for her.It's... so surreal. Something she will take a very long time to truly grasp. But she does not want to leave.

Summary

General

💤He/Him
💤High-Tier Sagittarius (archer)
💤Ex-imperial turned monster
💤Voidsent morph based on a Grackle
💤Limit Break form: Grackle + Fox gryphon

Personality

Nico is tired. So... damn tired. And yet he's still here, so that counts for something.Granted, he's usually level headed, but when he breaks his composure, he breaks HARD. He will end up very embarrassed when that happens.Given his indoctrination into the imperial army, he'd been raised to despise any non-garlean. However, he had trended toward being more desperate and frightened as opposed to truly angry and hateful. This, of course, changed following his complete transformation into what he is presently: A voidsent.Because, prior to that, he went on a spiritual journey and was shown mercy he did not deserve. It made him realize just how horrible he was.And it broke him.He truly doesn't believe he deserves any more chances, and though he wants to atone for his former actions, believes it is too late. He believes he is destined to be slain. That isn't to be his fate, so on a lighter note, here are his other personality traits:He won’t admit it, but has a fondness for cute animals. Since officially leaving the imperial army, he’s chosen to explore his style, and enjoys the look of makeup on himself. If given a problem, he simply punches the person who annoys him too much unless the quip is good-natured or teasing, which he’ll just roll his eyes at or crack a smile. Depends on the person. He is very intelligent and loves tech (specifically software), and understands metaphors regarding them. That said - he’s a hothead sometimes like many of his comrades, and will toss taunts out at enemies when he really should shut up.He’s excellent at finding ways to avoid working and go nap if he really wants to. This is one of his 'proudest skills' for sure.

History

Nico had an off life up until age 11, unfortunately. His parents were both combatants on the front, so he was often watched by his grandparents, who weren’t super fond of him. They let him be aside from teaching him Garlemald’s values and history every now and then. Still, his parents saw him when they could, at times granted leave to spend time with their son. They begrudgingly worked for the Imperial Army, as if they didn’t, Nico would be in danger. However, they weren’t privy to their parents (father’s side) teaching pro-Empire material to Nico, or trying to. His parents tried to bring back trinkets and stories of the happier things on the front, telling him about nicer magicks and beasts, the beauty of the world that ‘rejected them’. His parents understood the nuance of war, and hated what they had to do.Sadly, they were slain too soon, though some of their values did stick. Nico was lost to the system, as his grandparents didn’t want him. At times, he ended up on the streets, where he met Callista. They formed a friendship, but had grown so cold due to his grandparents’ teachings, often snapping at the slaves on the run working with them - though he never ratted them out. His parents’ death had a deep impact on him, but because of his grandparents, he did not blame the Empire. However, Callista (who was very mature for her age sadly) slowly chipped away at him with her love of the world beyond Garlemald, and he grew cautious but optimistic toward outsiders, understanding that perhaps he was drilled into far too much by the Empire, and the big wide world out there may be…different. This all changed for the worse when he was noticed by the army for his exceptional dexterity, agility, and intelligence. Callista never ended up seeing him again until much later, when it was far too late. The Nico she knew would be changed forever. They’d known each other for 2 years at that point, as Nico met her around the time of her tragedy too (He’d been 18 upon being sent off, met her at 16).He trained in the army for years and worked on the front, bombarded by propaganda and losing comrades to Eorzeans in the war. Though, he understood death was expected. Still… it weighed on him. The only thing consistent was Garlemald.Fall of GarlemaldUntil the fall of Garlemald, of course. It was brought on by the Garleans themselves, of course, but he was too lost from his time in the service to understand the nuance of that anymore. A powerful soldier, he was used as manpower against Eorzeans in an attempt to invade them. He heard about the civil war but was on the front at the time, trying to help establish a settlement in La Noscea. He rushed home to help, only to witness the extreme devastation and having to fight for his life against those he may have known in the past. It killed him inside, how come he was spared but not all of the innocent people here?!He was protected from tempering by the radio in his magitek Vanguard. He kept listening to try for news, and couldn’t do much. Eventually, his machine was damaged heavily, and he crashed. He was only saved by Irene, Mintha, and Idesta. He recognized them as part of the Legion he’d been invading with, and so, joined them. The four eventually joined Gideon Mal Glacies, as he was a charismatic leader who promised to bring salvation. He wasn’t a combatant, but a tech expert, and so, he was able to repair Nico’s machine, along with several other things they needed to survive. Nico knows baseline repairs, but not as intricate as Gideon does, so this helped save the lot of them.Eventually, their group stumbled upon Callista - and she recognized him. She tearfully explained the situation, but there was no kindness in his eyes. He convinced them to spare her, but that was it. “She’s a revolutionist” he had said flatly and with hatred.Callista had denied this, and fervently emphasized not anymore - that her loyalties are with the Empire. Nico didn’t really believe this, so has kept a close eye on her since. He’s currently blinded by propaganda from his service, his previous wonder/personality drained out of him, the fate of many in the Empire forced to obey them. He has no sympathy for the woman, which is why she is afraid of him and will avoid his stare.EVAThe EVA working with Rook is a matter of ‘necessary evil’ for Nico, just like it is with Commander Gideon. He is absolutely terrified of Rook, like the rest of his comrades, but believes Gideon is meant to rise up and take the mantle of the Empire to restore the former Glory of Garlemald.Any previous wonder for the world has been wiped away. Or so he tries to paint for anyone who talks to or looks at him. In reality, things are more complicated, and he’s got a constant inner battle, especially because of Callista avoiding him like the plague whenever she can.Journey and BeyondDuring a turning point in his life, he fought with Commander Gideon and other comrades, then was forced to surrender to City of Monster allies. Going on a very complex journey and being showed mercy changed his outlook on life. As did the forgiveness of many.It wasn’t to be enough - he, in his eyes, wasn’t meant for redemption, and so, when he found horrifying information in files he decrypted from Rook, he made a decision to go with Gideon and stop her for good. The end result? Being forcibly transformed into…something else.Full, very complicated story of him and his comrades' journey here.

Flora Ovidia

Summary

General

💀She/Her
💀Gloomhaven Ashkin (lore here)
💀A stealth unit (rogue) with magitek-enhanced knives.

Personality

Flora is a bulwark for her comrades, usually keeping a smile on her face in the darkest of times and trying to be there to both listen and lean on. She trends toward being more logical but sympathetic, opting to listen even when someone is being irrational to figure out the problem before solving it.If necessary, she will hide her other emotions such as anger or sadness behind a smile, as she expects herself to be composed. As such, Flora has a ridiculously good sense of staying calm under pressure/intense fear. For example, she is secretly TERRIFIED of ghosts but she's so good at hiding it, it's hard to tell... even when there's a ghost in the room.On a lighter note, she loves cinnamon and apple flavoured desserts! Even as an undead 'monster'.

Hooks

☑️ Wary about either Garleans or Ashkin? If you can sense she is either, she can be confronted.
☑️Monster hunters - feel free to go after her! (...Be warned, you'll aggro her necromancer.)
☑️Are you an evil character whom harms innocents? She will likely want to dispose of you quickly.
☑️Her aura is off, and her body heat matches the room....
☑️If you look like someone desperate and in need, she may try to go out of her way to help you.
☑️Her eyes glow like the full moon. Something that can be seen if you look close enough even if she decides to wear sunglasses.
☑️Need a 'monster', as opposed to a less-violent 'hero'? Depending on your target, she'll tear them to pieces after some careful planning. She's no stranger to violence.
☑️If you were a part of her invasion force or the people she hurt, she can be confronted. Or, perhaps, a fellow Garlean who was part of or trying to get her out of the 'reprogramming' she was forced to try and do when sent back to Garlemald. (see history)

History

From a young age, Flora's been a rather quiet person, able to sneak around with quite a bit of expertise. Her parents encouraged this talent despite the trickery she engaged in. They figured it would be helpful in the future. When she became friends with a boy known as Gallio, they grew inseparable. For about a decade, they were close friends, but when he hit his late teenage years, his father returned from the Imperial army due to an injury.Damaged too greatly by the horrors of war, he abused his child, and Flora was told about this by Gallio. She wanted to do something but always was told not to by her friend, so held back. Up until the day he was killed by his father...And it was too late.Meanwhile, Flora's skills allowed her to qualify for the infiltration unit of the imperial army, and though she was devastated by what happened with her friend, she thought she could change things from the inside if she gave into the pressure to join. She was very wrong.Flora was stationed as an aggressive party during the invasion of Othard, witnessing the atrocities of the Empire and likely aiding in some of the expansion of the invasion. However, the results of her and her legion's actions eventually drove her to become mentally unstable, as she realized the depth of the attrocities she witnessed and aided in.She therefore needed to be sent back to Garlemald. Though it would be easier to dispose of her, she had expertise in many military-related fields, including magitek, so they tried to 'reprogram' her (unsuccessfully) until the civil war hit.Flora keeps very quiet about this, ashamed of what she can remember. She's never forgotten her lost friend, and feels guilty to this day that she kept her silence when she could have spoken up. Right alongside the inability to make a difference in the Imperial army itself. Her soul was very violent when risen by Morana, but despite what she's gone through and her slightly fragile mental health, she's managed to keep it together and finds purpose by being someone to lean on in hard times. She wants to be what she couldn't in her past, and sees her undeath as a second chance to do this & help people.

Summary

General

💀She/Her
💀Leader of Gloomhaven
💀Gained magic through a faulty Resonant.
💀Creator of 'Gloomhaven Ashkin', not intentionally.
💀FINALLY trying to adapt to the rest of the world and live life.
💀RPR in training; her voidsent partner is known as 'Squeak'. Picture of Squeak below!

Personality

OH BOY.Morana is... very, very, very cold, though she doesn't mean to be. Having been in survival mode for nearly most of her life at this point, she's taking a while to find herself. She's prone to angry outbursts or being locked in fear, one of the two.Even her smile can come across as unintentionally cold. She's oblivious to most things, though she is trying so, so hard to learn how to adapt. She just recently left Garlemald for the first time in her life, thanks to the City of Monsters, and between that and her home, it's all she's experienced. She is unlikely to venture far from either area. She relies on her comrades, the Ashkin she rose, to feel comfortable. There will always be one nearby, usually Finn or Flora if she is visiting the City of Monsters. One may describe her as a very clueless, frightened coyote stuck in the middle of an ice desert. To her credit, she's doing her best to come out of her hidey-hole and meet people (well, only in the City of Monsters, as it's dangerous for her everywhere else.)

Hooks

☑️ Are you visiting the City of Monsters? You just might run into her...
☑️ Unless you're one of your Ashkin (which you would not be), Morana is EXTREMELY wary of other Garleans. You may be someone from her past...
☑️Are you someone else with the Resonant? This could spark an interesting conversation.
☑️ Do you HATE Garleans? Well... she is one, and on top of that, considered an abomination.
☑️ She's rescued 'monsters' (voidsent) from an evil scientist known as Rook. If you're interested in having that as a piece of your history, I'm open to talk about it!
☑️ She's attacked people with her undead in the past - maybe you've been a victim of that?... Oops
☑️ Perhaps you're one of the Eorzeans Morana freed from the Resonant experiment, or gods forbid, one of the ones who betrayed her and got her tormented (this would need to be discussed OOC!)
☑️ Are you a Garlean who guarded her during the experiment?
☑️ Ashkin or aether researcher? You can try to pester her (good luck)...

History

Her parents were present in her life and tried their best to give her a good one. They did reinforce the idea of being obedient to the Empire, completely believing it as well. She grew up in a lower class household, but made do.During her childhood and teenage years, between academia, she primarily worked in the fields harvesting cold-weather crops during the short growing season in Garlemald. These skills helped her hand-eye coordination and aided her to build skills in science-related tasks she would utilize later in life. When Morana was 18, she had an internship as a Garlean scientist. She had been a regular Garlean citizen, focused on her studies, with a brilliant mind. It was her intellect that allowed her to advance and eventually gain this internship. She was convinced that she needed to eventually work for the Imperial Army to protect her home, or everyone would lose it.She worked as an aspiring scientist for five years. During that time, she witnessed atrocities that led her to be horrified at the treatment of non-Garleans that had been captured to experiment with. Particularly, when she gained access to the Resonance experiment. She bore witness to the aether being sucked away from countless of them, and eventually tried aiding some in escaping after befriending them. She managed to save quite a few…but it took a small group of them to betray her. She was crafty and sly, like the marten that could survive out here on little to nothing. There were suspicions about her behaviour. It took a bribe of true freedom to convince some Eorzeans to betray her. They were indeed let free of being experimented upon, though forced to join the Army. Some may still be out there… Either way, Morana’s brilliance was not to be wasted, and she needed to be a test subject. She was therefore subjugated to the very experiment she tried saving people from.Branded a traitor, any friends or family disowned her - including her parents.Morana faced unbearable torment for a year. It was a trial and error process she barely survived. She gained the echo and became a flawed Resonant, requiring a voidsent pact for stabilization or risking her soul being torn to pieces (something she would learn later). A Garlean Tech collar & bracers were used to cause a massive amount of pain on her should she step out of line. Her experiments then began as she could utilize her newfound powers to raise the dead. From afar, she would send zombie dragons to Coerthas with implanted Garlean tech for tracking and a stronger attempt to control. This did not last long, as soon, the Civil war started.Unfortunately during this war, she witnessed so many innocent people being slaughtered in cold blood. She couldn't save innocent civilians in tiem, and it tore her to pieces. She did manage to escape the collar/bracers with help from other Garleans. Free at last, she could effectively utilize her powers.During the civil war, she was shot in the legs several times and bleeding out. The unstable aether led to small void pockets being opened, where a voidsent happened upon her. Not satisfied with his situation in the Thirteenth, and sensing Morana’s power, he offered her a deal. He would save her and grant her more stability in her power if she was his anchor here. She had to agree, given she would die otherwise, and a pact was made. Recovery took quite some time. She rose several slain Garleans to help build her home and stabilize her tech. All of which she 'heard the screams of' and could not bear to leave them to the torment of beign lingering souls, unable to do a thing. Cedrick, someone she calls her older brother though not by blood, was the first of those zombies she raised and one of her only true friends. (He was risen prior to the pact.)Though not extremely skilled in combat (yet), she is quick to go for the kill and has slain people before.Eventually, due to her antics and fears, she ran into the City of Monsters. A lot happened (as seen here in this long form story) but long story short, she went from being an aggressive villain to an ally due to her tendency to save 'monsters' from an evil scientist trying to torment them.

Personality

Y'sila is a very protective paladin who often jokes that she is 'surrounded by idiots'. Through hard work, she became one of the leaders in the City of Monsters, which is quite ironic, considering she is a non-monster herself. She will protect those she cares about with her life. She describes herself as the 'defender of the outcast & misunderstood', knowing that she saw things without nuance in her past. She is described as uptight and grumpy, but when one gets to know her, they may realize she's much softer than she would originally come across. She very much believes in the balance of dark and light, knowing both can be used for good or evil.

History

A member of the 'Y' tribe, Y'sila grew up with a deep sense of family and power. While it's rare for Seekers of the Sun like her to wander away from her family, Y'sila was born with a deep sense of adventure. She wanted to see the world, and when she came of age, she left her tribe with a few of her sisters. Eventually, she found her way to Ul'dah, where her gladiator training began. All was well when she met a lovely Keeper of the Moon Miqo'te and fell in love. Both of them were gladiators who eventually trained into becoming a paladin. Eventually, she performed the bonding ceremony with him, happily married. The honeymoon ended quickly - and not because they had issues. No, in fact, their relationship was strong. The danger they put themselves into, however, was stronger. One faithful night, Y'sila found herself covered in the blood of her husband as his aether was sucked away by intelligent voidsent they'd been sent to kill. She was tormented for days before managing to escape, badly wounded and afraid. Ever since then, she hated voidsent, especially intelligent ones, deeming them all evil.Extremism bled into her views, and she went on a crusade against every voidsent she could. That came to a halt, one day, when a Gaelikitten cornered by her gave a pathetic mewl. She saw the fear in the cat's eyes and realized she was becoming the very monster that tormented her.She nursed the kitten back to health, and he began to follow her - after all, she did give him tons of tasty food. He forgave her, too, which was a bonus. Still, Y'sila was pretty reserved... until, one day, she met Theda. An anomaly.Well, he had something off about him - and he wouldn't leave her alone. Another Keeper of the Moon, but... possibly void touched or similar. She wanted nothing to do with him, but like an annoying gnat, he wouldn't leave her alone. He kept offering her fish! Her Gaelikitten loved him, especially for the fish, and she would continuously need to chase the kitten after he flew over to him. which prompted more of his pestering!...Eventually, however, Theda's antics and oddness brought a begrudging smile to her face. Slowly, they became friends, and Y'sila allowed herself to be comfortable around him. She told him about the loss of her husband, and he comforted her.In fact, he was there for her through a lot, and she realized...she loved him.The two travelled to the City of Monsters soon after Y'sila realized there's more to people than what they are. Wanting to pay for the pain she brought to innocents in the past with her extremist thoughts, she vowed to become a city guard and protect the misunderstood.Eventually, she accepted a leadership position in the City of Monsters, where she serves today.

Ares Arachnida

Summary

General

💀He/Him
💀Alchemical Vampire
💀Species TLDR; He's void-touched. He drinks Spoken blood to sustain his nutrition properly, is very much alive, and has shark-like teeth. Physical traits such as his ears & odd scales are a result of aetheric corruption.
💀The youngest of a Dotharl-brother trio - does not take his tribal name as his surname and though he visits the Steppe often, does not call himself a Dotharl.

Personality

Oi, where do we begin with Ares?! Well, he's definitely similar to the crows he adores. He loves shiny things, quite like corvids in general, and is a jokester. Beware of pranks around him! He's a very social guy, but sometimes doesn't know personal space. He's getting better at that, however. Ares rarely has an 'indoor voice' and is prone to getting overexcited. He's very punkish and enjoys having fun.Though he loves to see people squirm, under his tough-guy punk-rock exterior, he's a very sweet gentleman. He LOVES to make people smile, if they're innocent. It's his purpose, in his mind, to help cheer people laugh....Right alongside BRUTALLY butchering evil entities, of course. Ares is incredibly violent toward those who he deems deserves it, landing him solidly into chaotic neutral. He will defend those who cannot defend themselves and has little mercy for 'evil-doers'.

💀Fun fact: This character is adapted off of an OC from the books I write. He has a whole book written on him, The Dancing Crow! Though his personality is the only thing truly consistent between the universes.

Hooks

☑️ Are you a monster hunter? You could go after him- he, however, is not evil!
☑️ He is former Dotharl - and he would have been this odd vampire creature upon birth.
☑️Can you see aether? His is...off. Voidsent in nature.
☑️ If you spot him on the Steppe, he loves to either fight, duel, or help, depending on what you're looking for.
☑️He doesn't hide what he is. Take that as you will.
☑️ If you visit the City of Monsters, you'll find him wandering around. He takes care of birds in a rehabilitation sanctuary, so perhaps you have a client that needs help with such a task!

History

Originally born into the Dotharl tribe, he was set up for violence the moment he grew of age.
Not only that, had a major issue that caused both suspicion and fear in his fellow Xaela.
Why?Well, his mother had accepted an odd ‘strength’ potion from a trader before he was born, which contained heavy amounts of voidkin blood. The strength potion aided in battle on the Steppe, and was given to other unsuspecting tribes on the marketplace as well--including those among his own tribe. There were no ill-effects on the mother Xaela, but on their children, well…
Ares was born with bladed teeth. He had several mutations that changed his very nature. From the get-go, he was bloodthirsty, as the bacteria in his system that provided nutrients for his survival demanded blood. He fed on animals, primarily. This worked, at first, but then his body began to require the blood of humanoids. He swapped to this, drinking the blood of his enemies on the battlefield when they tried snatching him up for other tribes. He grew unnaturally strong and quick as a consequence to this. His Dotharl upbringing helped give him even more of an edge, leading to many fearing him.
However, he soon realized that, while it was a blast seeing people fear him, he also enjoyed actually being productive and making people feel great. Particularly with laughter. He turned into quite the prankster, leading to some taking him less seriously as a fighter and befriending him. This, and his odd deformities/aether, caused some of his tribe to scorn him, leading to him eventually leaving and wandering the Steppe as an outcast.Ares came to the fringes of his home, where he was exposed to many different cultures around the world, leading to him being relatively open-minded. He did this from the shadows for a while, before eventually emerging and conversing with folks. He left the Steppe eventually, wanting to explore the world, but also needing to hide his vampiric nature. He changed his name entirely during this and has since forgotten his original first name.Ares’s language has shifted to being fairly informal over the years as he has gained a city accent due to sticking to the major Cities, then eventually moving to the City of Monsters when he met his brothers.

Muninn Corbeu

Summary

General

🌹He/Him
🌹Source Voidsent - blasted with void energy from an unknown source eons ago.
🌹Age: Ancient; he doesn't remember, but he's eons. (Note: He's powerful, but I bear in mind to play fair with him despite this, such as nerfing when necessary!)
🌹Works for Pumpkin-Headed Apparition - All Saints' Wake Lore

Personality

Ah, another chaotic entity who is very lovable indeed, like the raven he says he is.Muninn LOVES to mock his enemies, his friends, and well, anyone, really. His tone changes from malicious to teasing depending on where you fall for him.Life is a game for Muninn, sometimes, and he has a hard time taking some things seriously that he really should. If someone calls him out on this, he just laughs at them without a care in the world.Muninn very proudly a guardian-like entity. He will protect what he considers his ‘flock’ and allies of said ‘flock’ with his life. That includes his new flock and his current association with the pumpkin-headed apparition and any of her other workers (so his coworkers). This includes Papa Gruff!Muninn is far more caring than he gives himself credit for, not that he quite understands why he is described that way. He’s just doing ‘what is entertaining and what he is compelled to do for whatever reason’.Muninn is ridiculously patient, but that should not be a surprise given he’s so long-lived.He’s a very curious person, which can of course lead him into a lot of trouble. Again, clever, but not super ‘wise’, all things considered.
Though he’s long-lived, Muninn really doesn’t focus on the past much. His window of the world is about a couple of centuries, before that, he doesn’t care unless he lost someone close to him, in which case he will remember the person, just not when he lost them. But he doesn’t obsess over the past, opting to live and enjoy himself in the present.
Muninn has a thirst for revenge if slighted enough, does not shy away from torture, and in general can be incredibly scary when he wants to be. Yet, this works side-by-side with how he is an effective ‘guardian’.Muninn is unapologetically vain. If called a ‘pretty bird’ or something, or praised, he will be pleased. He can be very occupied by compliments.

Hooks

☑️ Muninn spreads the good word of All Saints Wake all year round. He is ALWAYS up for tricking and treating, it makes his heart very happy.
☑️ Are you a voidsent hunter? You could try to go after him, but it likely won't go well.
☑️ Fellow voidsent? Muninn may be nice to you or try to eat you, depending on your alignment. If you're causing issues, he may go after you on behalf of the Pumpkin-Headed Apparrition.
☑️ Mess with his flock ( Gideon, Kali, Mintha, or Niko) and he will go after you.
☑️ Visiting the City of Monsters? You may see him in the Wings District, or perching in various places within the City! He is very friendly.

History

Other ancient creatures can likely attest to the heaps of mischief and trouble he caused in the far past, but Muninn himself can’t recall it. If someone reminds him, though, he will laugh it off and be extremely amused. He does know he’s a Source-based voidsent, Elezen originally, who got absolutely saturated with void aether and consequently turned into what he is now.Recent HistoryHe’s willingly working for a mysterious pumpkin-headed apparition to keep malicious voidsent in check. At one point he may have been power hungry, but now he exists to both aid the world in that respect & be entertained. Most of the aether he collects goes to that association, so while he’s ancient, his power level isn’t ridiculous.Still - he keeps a decent amount of it and is incredibly dangerous to his enemies. He’s trained himself to become essentially a very potent glass canon. The Raven-based voidsent is fragile like the birds he represents, nearly on the level of mortals in both strength and stamina. If he’s caught off guard, therefore, he can be taken down quickly. However, if he’s given a chance to strike back (or first), he is a powerhouse.Rook, an evil scientist viera woman who tortures voidsent like him for the hells of it, managed to surprise him shortly after he had provided aether to his association. She managed to land a blow on his wings, and while he wiped out at least a dozen of her scientists during that, he ended up captured.Eventually, he ended up pacted to Gideon, which was shattered after he defected from Rook. Muninn decided to remain, continue providing magic to the unfortunate Garlean, and help his new ‘flock’, the odd EVA Garleans, for entertainment (and because he secretly cares, but you won’t catch him admitting that.)

Kleio "Rainy" Rainlight

Summary

General

🦈She/Her
🦈From an isolated island in the Cieldalaes
🦈Intentionally lost Princess (literally)
🦈Chimeral Vampire ((See full lore here))
🦈Species TLDR: She drinks either Spoken or beastkin blood to sustain herself, otherwise consumes meat. Living Spoken species corrupted not by the void, but by levin + water aether. This species was crafted within the bounds of FFXIV lore!
🦈Trying to learn about the outside world, much to the disdain of her hyper-cautious society.

Personality

Curiosity killed the cat...er, shark. Hopefully, that won't be what happens with Rainy. She is incredibly curious despite the danger her society puts on the outside world.Though she is a 'princess' on her island, she, nor her family, abused its power. In fact, royalty on Majoid island is considered a very serious task for running the island. Though Rainy is aware of the expectations on her, she feels her calling is adventure. This results in a very kind but naïve woman. There is real danger to her from the outside world. This is because not only would her species be considered 'abominations' and 'monsters' (quite like voidsent) due to aetheric corruption, but her rare blood is valuable in the alchemical trade. She likes to think she's aware of that problem and hides who she is. But her odd behaviour + use of glamour (which some may see through) could reveal the truth...

Extras

🍷Voice Claim: Auli'i Cravalho

🌈Sexuality: Bisexual
🎶Theme song: How Far I'll Go
🦅: Her beloved gryphon's name is 'Fury'
🦈 She is a Selachimorph Chimera (S-Chimera) (see lore for what that means.)

Hooks

☑️ Why is this Elezen acting so strange, like everything is super interesting to her, and she's only ever seen it on a screen or read about it in a book?!
☑️Can you see aether? Hers would trend waaay too far into levin + water, but somehow with no ill effects...
☑️Are you an Allagan researcher (or even an allagan from long ago)? You may recognize one of their experiments if you see through her disguise. (( /tell for this one.))
☑️She is glamoured. If you can see through it, or break it, you'll see glowing tattoos + unnatural eyes + a double set of fangs.
☑️Monster hunter/material trade in the black market? Her blood has some valuable properties...
☑️If wounded, her blood isn't natural crimson, but rather, a deep purple color...
☑️Rainy regularly looks lost and curious, and if you look interesting, she may ask you 5,000 questions.
☑️Her singing voice is beautiful! She may randomly start singing if the mood hits her.

History

Rainy’s tale is the classic ‘isolated royalty’ story that many know. She is from a hidden island in Cieldalaes, where her island in particular’s mist has been maintained by her people for thousands of years. Lately, the spell has been failing, but that’s only sparked her curiosity further. Though her people adventure and regularly bring back information from the outside world, her home island, Majoid, is a culture shut off to the rest of the world.Let’s go back to her beginning, however. Rainy was born as the third daughter of King Synesius Wavestorm. On Majoid Island, though the society consisted of a monarchy, the major decisions were made by ‘The Presbyterate’, a council made up of representatives including of the people. Royalty had duty to its people first and foremost, and could be overthrown if they abused their power. Therefore, Rainy was expected to grow up and serve as a leader to her people alongside other representatives and her siblings. While on paper, she had a choice, in reality, there were very high expectations to take on this role. The big problem was…. Rainy never felt she was meant to do so. Her mother believed that was the case as well, and encouraged her to be open minded to adventure. Much to her father's concern, of course. She paid little attention to ‘boring’ lessons, her mind always on adventure. This never changed as she grew older, and she was often reprimanded for trying to stowaway on ships and adventure. While she ‘could choose’ anything she’d like to do, regardless of her family's pressure, it had to be on the Island, for the outside world is dangerous. So she was reminded… all of the time. Then, when her mother was slain by raiders near the island while fishing, her father's caution exploded, and she wasn't allowed to even be on ships.Did this stop her habit of trying to stowaway? Nope. The death of her mother devastated her, but she knew her mother wouldn't want her to hide in fear, and would want her to prove to her people that the outside world wasn't all so horrible. So, as Rainy hit adulthood and officially stopped her physical aging at 25, she grew smarter. Her desire for adventure never faded, and she wasn’t given high ranks in leadership roles just yet. Her father didn’t think she was ready, and would take all the time needed to teach her.The attempts to stowaway were treated as a joke, something Rainy surely wasn’t serious about. Ever so slowly, it was ingrained in peoples’ minds that ‘It’s just Rainy playing around again’.Until the day she truly did stowaway… and no one realized until it was too late.

Summary

General

🖤He/Him
🖤 Formally part of the Dotharl
🖤 Fucked around with voidsent magic and found out.
🖤Alchemical Vampiric Voidsent - Species lore here (Crafted lore within FFXIV lore restrictions!)
🖤Species TLDR; He's void-touched. He drinks Spoken blood to sustain his nutrition properly, is very much alive, and has shark-like teeth. Physical traits such as his ears & odd scales are a result of aetheric corruption.
🖤 Resident at the City of Monsters. So, hes' a city guy now. Far from the former tribesman he used to be.
🖤 Guard within Aetherpyre Acquisitions & Custom Crafting
🖤"Dancer" as a hobby. More accurately, a 'stripper', something he is at times bashful about if brought up. It's something he does along with animal care & battle. An odd array of interests!

Personality

Some describe him as a 'himbo', though he is brilliant in areas such as navigation and battle planning. When it comes to common sense and social/emotional intelligence, however, that's very hit or miss. He tries his best!Really, Elias can be tough and grumpy at times, but is a big sweetheart if you get to know him. At times, he seems to be 'dragged around by the horns' by what appears to be a Poroggo. Supposedly, this frog is a 'familiar', but there's something more to him Elias has not caught onto yet.Back to Elias, though, he LOVES everything to do with maps, and is often looking at one. He carries several different maps on him, all with various copies. This is his 'friendship' language. He's trying to be helpful when he provides you with a map. Finally, he believes in heavy violence to protect the innocent. He's very spiritual, honoring the Dusk Mother and upholding his former tribe's beliefs.

Hooks

☑️ Are you a monster hunter? You could go after him- he, however, is not evil, so you need to be an extremist to make sense targeting him. Or use a misunderstanding.
☑️ He is former Dotharl - he wouldn't have been this odd vampire creature when he left.
☑️His companion with him, Emmo Roggo, will try to 'get the boy to socialize more'.
☑️Can you see aether? Both he and his frog are ...odd.
☑️Are you Mol? He often helps out, wanting to give back after his former tribe was... well. Themselves. Also wanting to show the nicer side of 'voidsent' and 'monsters'.
☑️He doesn't hide what he is. Take that as you will.
☑️He is of higher rank in the Maelstrom, quite like his brother, though perhaps not as high of a rank. Maybe you recognize him.
☑️If spotted in the Steppe, he's likely ignoring stares & looking for trade on behalf of his City.

History

Born of the Dotharl, like many other of his tribespeople, he's extremely violent and revels in battle. This Xaela's original forename was "Elikai", and he wore it with pride, having lived 2 lives prior to rebirth as he is now. Deadly in melee combat, above all, he felled many warriors in the Naadam. His yol is known as "Zephyr".His way of life, however, changed drastically as merchants began to visit the Steppes. One thing he cares deeply for aside from war is his younger brother, whom he stood with through thick and thin. Elikai noticed a mentality that strayed from war in the case of his brother, and did not understand it at first.Though various things like books, and especially maps, were brought to their home by his brother from Reunion. These bits of learning material were gathered from areas all around the world, sold by merchants, and he finally began to understand the taste of adventure his brother sought. He, however, kept his tongue, while his brother often spoke up about wanting to go beyond the bounds of the tribe. While the brothers were very loyal to the ways of the Dotharl tribe and by no means afraid of battle, their minds often wandered. This was not well received by their kin.Their lives changed further one day when his brother was wounded heavily in battle. Elikai's brother was left for dead by the Dotharl, because he was assumed entirely deceased and ready for reincarnation. He sought to go take care of the corpse with admittedly a heavy heart... only to discover its absence.Ever the strong tracker, Elikai wandered for upwards of a few days before discovering his brother alive. He attempted to convince a return to the tribe, but his brother refused, citing that this was his chance to finally explore the world. Conflicted with his loyalty to the tribe, and with his connection to his brother, Elikai stewed on this for several hours before making his choice. He was to join his brother in wandering the world, abandoning his endlessly violent ways and redirecting them for a different purpose. He renamed himself to further leave his past behind and start anew, as this, he believed, was a new start even the end was not death. He deemed himself "Elias Cipher", with a love for codes, secrets, puzzles, and maps. Therefore, he decided, the surname fit him rather well. While his brother took the path of the merchant, he took the path of the warrior. Often, he is seen by his brother's side as a guard. Other times, he offers his services as a righteous mercenary (among other rather creative endeavors), caring little for gil and earning it for the sake of his little brother should he be called upon. His brother renamed himself "Athedima", though Elias often refers to him as "Athe". While Athe tends to avoid combat, and fights by the fist or bow, Elias fights by the sword. In current time, he is the "Blood Commander" of the City of Monsters. A high rank who offers aid in helping others to adapt as well. How was he turned into this... monstrosity? That's a tale for him to tell.

History

He was born in a secluded village and admittedly has no interest in returning, nor thinking too much on said village. He was born... odd. Beyond being a rare sight, given male viera, he had glowing red eyes with an unnatural ring that glowed like the full moon. His teeth were also...off. All of them as sharp as knives, and this hinted at his peculiar diet.Being fed beastkin blood sustained him for a short while, but eventually he had cravings for his fellows. Being a responsible and bright soul, he resisted this until snapping one day. He's certain he didn't cause a fatal blow to his fellow, but knows that they barely survived. He ran off into the woods after this incident - at the time, he'd been a teenager.Unsure of what to do, he was contacted by none other than his sister... a glowing white viera named Rook. She attempted to lure him to her laboratory, but was intercepted by a different sister - Winter.Confused and generally dazed, Spring lashed out at both and fled. On the run from both for a while, he managed to sustain himself from the shadows, inching closer and closer to society until eventually becoming quite the expert at ambushing from the dark, taking his fill, and keeping his prey alive. Unless, from his observations, they were not innocent.Eventually, Winter found him again. After a very long, drawn out discussion, Spring learned that Rook had been looking to torture him just like she had upon Winter so long ago. Winter was just like Spring, what he found out later was an 'alchemical vampire'.He requested space, but eventually reached out to her again as he adapted to society. She helped him further, and they've been inseparable since. This is especially the case when Spring joined his sister's organization for the benefit of innocent souls in need of a monster with morals like him.Winter is INCREDIBLY protective of Spring, and the feeling is mutual. The siblings have an incredibly strong familial bond now. The same can't be said for Rook - who hunts both of them to this day.

🍷MOB BOSS - Base in Goblet. Chaotic Good, will bust trafficking rings and provide resources to victims.
🍷Resident at the City of Monsters

Personality

Winter is an entertainer first and foremost, and treasures the fine arts. However, she expresses this in varying ways. Some by song, some by visual effects on stage.... some by bloodshed. You see, Winter is a mob boss. She leads a gang based in the Goblet. Said gang busts trafficking rings from the inside out - many of which this 'Siren' herself have utterly decimated. The trafficking victims are rescued and given the care needed, at times a permanent, guarded residence. She could be considered 'chaotic good', but smiles a bit too widely when she's flaying her enemies alive, basking in their screams. The victims' pain is well-deserved. They'd be rendered unable to ever hurt the people they trafficked again, and really, that's the most important thing to her.At her core, Winter is a caring person to innocent peoples and strives to make them smile. Be that through her performance or battles.

🦊Species TLDR; She's void-touched. She drinks Spoken blood to sustain her nutrition properly, is very much alive, and has shark-like teeth.

Personality

As a leader and head alchemist in the City of Monsters, Falls is the gentle, albeit emotional balance to others in the Council who are heavily blunt and logic based. She is very idealistic and tries to see the good in everyone. She works in the infirmary with its medicines in particular and herb-based healing. A fourth of her work is there, with most of the rest trending toward alchemical creation and experimenting for the good of her City.Much like the voidsent she's pacted with, Falls can get the 'zoomies' or need random naps. She can have her head in the clouds. One moment you may see her as quite exhausted, the next, bouncing off the wall. Really, it depends on the day.

Extras

History

In the forests of Eorzea, a small family of Miq’ote branched off from the Keepers of the Moon Clans, exploring further into areas like Gridania. They respected the rules of the Trapper’s League, and at times went to Gridania for the purpose of trading furs and gathered flora. The family settled for a small swath of territory in eastern Black Shroud. Fa’llynn hailed from this family, generally brought up to be more secluded. Though it was uncommon, her father did remain with her siblings and her, protecting and raising the family. He never accompanied them to Gridania, however, when they engaged in trading.Fa’llynn herself rarely was brought to the city, however she had an unusually strong sense of curiosity. Unlike others around her, she seeked to meet and interact with other races. However, her upbringing rendered her fairly shy, so she watched from a distance and learned about them from books.Things took a turn for the worst when her family had an altercation with a hunting item. Their location unfortunately rendered them close enough to the wall between the Shroud and Gyr Abania. On that fateful night, her parents ran into some Garleans, who cut them down after declaring them ‘savages’. The winter had been particularly difficult, and her family meant to protect the kill. Little did they know, it would cost them their lives. Fa’llynn and her siblings found their battered bodies with heavy burns and lacerations from magiteck blades. Now teenagers, Fa’llynn (the eldest of them) and her siblings scattered throughout the Shroud, none truly sticking together. They were thrown into chaos, Falls herself spiraling into a deep hatred/sadness. She developed a deep sense of mistrust for strangers, though retained the knowledge on trading from her parents’ example. Therefore, she still traveled to Gridania to trade, but never spoke much. The spark of curiosity never went out within her, but she never looked into it.Fa’llynn relocated to the northwest, where the climate was a bit colder due to the winds of Coerthas. Adapting well enough with her hunting skills, and still following the guidelines of Trapper’s League, she established herself and coldly watched anyone who happened to enter her territory. Unless someone detected and called her out, she tended to remain hidden. Should this stalking be called out, she would coldly give directions to Gridania and warn them against hunting in her territory not only to avoid conflict with her, but the Trapper’s League.Current Day
The world has gone through many changes, as has Fa'llynn herself. She traveled with a group that consists of two Xaela, saving the world one evil-doer defeated at a time.
She fell in love with a Xaela known as "Athedima Atherpyre", taking on his last name early. They will soon undergo a binding ceremony.During her adventures, she has learned the art of crafting... all of it. Her lover has trained her in omicrafting! This took many years of work on her part, but worth it, as she is now a skilled tradesman & hunter. She will accept mercenary work if it means burying evil-doers six feet under. Sometimes with her saw, sometimes with her axe, and usually by her bow.She enjoys creating eerie (FFXIV's version of alternative) music on the side, as a bard, and entertaining in that fashion!Strange Tidings
Having taken to alchemy & goldsmithing the strongest in her crafting journey, she has started to delve into deep research regarding both. Her curiosity has led her astray in some way, however, and she can be a little bit...off.
The cat has grown too curious. Something is disturbing her aether, and she emanates a darker aura. The balance within her is thrown off due to her experiments, and her aether is tinged with red. Why?Log #5291
Why am I so thirsty?! I-I thought that potion was my drink... something's off... I don't feel so good...
NOTE
She's voidtouched, meant to be a vampiric character due to several experiments gone horribly wrong. The bacteria in her digestive system has been replaced by that of blood-drinking bats, and her body has been mutated with magic (seen in her pitch-black gaze). Notably, her speed/agility has increased due to this process. Due to the transformation, she can now only sustain on Spoken blood.

Finn Mydaina

Summary

Start 🎮
Where to begin with Finn... well, he's a Garlean, so there's that. Quite an unusual one, to be fair, because he's a Gloomhaven Ashkin! (Lorecrafted: species created entirely within the bounds of FFXIV, researched. Species lore link here. TLDR below.)
Level 1: Personality 👾
Finny is hyperfixated on violence and how tech can be used to cause it. Despite his hyperfixation, he is heroic; he uses violence to protect the innocent. His alignment would technically be 'chaotic neutral'. He is very excitable and sometimes can get a bit too into discussing gory topics. He does NOT mean to come off as scary, and yet, does. Often.
Level 2: Vibes 🗡️
Finn, without a doubt, has a goth-jock vibe. He is also neurodivergent (like his player <3).
Level 3: The Walking Dead 👻
TLDR on his species; Basically, because he regularly consumes flesh, he doesn't decay at all. He's functionally alive(minus the body heat), but with the benefit of the super strength and endurance of an Ashkin. Please note this will not be used to auto-win battles or anything! It's just how his species works. He has retractable metal fangs to consume flesh more easily (given he's, well, an Ashkin.) Do not worry - he will not bite without permission (unless you're an enemy, in which case, good luck :) ) His scent is similar to if he were to work at a cereleum plant. This can be masked mostly when wearing cologne.
Level 4: Voice Claim 💀
Voice Claim: Spencer Charnas - Ice Nine Kills. Here's a song that demonstrates this well (not technically Finn's theme but would be on his playlist.)

Game Over?! 😵

Hooks

💀Wary about either Garleans or Ashkin? If you can sense he is either, he can be confronted.
💀Monster hunters - feel free to go after him! (...Be warned, you'll aggro his necromancer.)
💀Are you an evil character whom harms innocents? He'll want to chomp you.
💀His aura is off, and his body heat matches the room....
💀Talking about recent battles? He's probably staring. And smiling.
💀His eyes glow like the full moon. Something that can be seen if you look close enough even while he's wearing sunglasses.
💀Need a 'monster', as opposed to a less-violent 'hero'? Depending on your target, he'll tear them to pieces and be grinning the entire time.
💀Do you recognize him from when he was alive? (see history, perhaps you do! Open to this.)

History

Note: Resurrection blocked most of Finn's memories. When Alive
As a teen and young child, Finn was fixated on machina of war, horror films, and action/adventure stories with heavy violence.
He was a strong young gentleman with a much higher than average dexterity. Therefore, when he was alive, Finn was drafted into the Garlean invasion force. However, exposed to the horrors of what his legion was doing, he defected with the help of several others who shared his views. He was given a very unfortunate reason to defect without much trouble...His young daughter grew very ill, and he was dismissed to be with her until she passed due to said illness. This utterly devastated him.To continue supporting himself and his wife, he kept his head on his shoulders and was employed as a guard to a high ranking official in Garlemald. He kept in contact with his former commander up until his death, which was incredibly violent. He'd been tempered, and among those he slaughtered had been his wife. It's a very good thing he remembers none of this. He also doesn't remember his former name, which was Celer Oen Albus. When he was ressurected, he picked his true name (Finnegan Mydaina) from a show he enjoyed when he was younger, one of the few memories he retained.Second Chance
During his time under his necromancer's wing, he's been beheaded at least one. He would have passed out during this time and was revived successfully. The experience would be harrowing for most. For Finn? Nah. He's been utterly decimated a few times as a matter of fact, but it doesn't bother him, really.
Also, he's so bad at cooking, that people joke that he nearly killed Morana with soup. He really, really, REALLY likes using salt. In. everything. Too much salt. He's generally curious to the outside world and open minded.JOB: Melee DPS. Bestarius (Lancer. Magitek lance.)
